摘要
The English intonational phrase is composed of one or more than one phonological phrase, and is a domain of spread of intonational contour. The division of the intonational phrases is partly based on the syntactic information, so the intonational phrases are not necessarily isomorphic to any syntactic structure. The focus structure plays an important role in the intonational structure; the focus represents the new information in the intonational phrase.
