Hemoptysis is a common presenting symptom for respiratory and other diseases. Massive hemoptysis is associated with a high mortality unless prompt and directed therapy is instituted. In this review we took at the potential aetiologies and give a general overview of this condition before focusing on definitive management strategies to achieve haemostasis and decrease mortality.
