Study on the Safety Mechanic and Influence of Overtaking among Heavy Vehicles Based on Traffic Conflict Technique

摘要
when heavy vehicles overtake each other, the process is very long. Many cars were observed to try to escape while the heavy vehicle begins to change back to the running lane too. Two surveys were carried out to study this phenomenon. According to the survey, there were 35.6% heavy vehicles that will not change back after overtake, while there were 46% cars chose to escape from the running lane before the heavy vehicle change back. About 21% of all cases result in traffic conflict between the heavy vehicle and cars. Study with traffic conflict technique shows, the conflict is very dangerous because the car keep accelerating in the whole process.
