摘要
Various physical techniques for finding and exploiting petroleum reserviors in the remote and complicated geological environments were discussed. Oil and natural gas are located with the help of sophisticated physical measurement of subsurface formations. These measurements use electromagnetic fields and waves, acoustic waves, neutron scattering, gamma-ray radiation, nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared spectroscopy and pressure and temperature sensors all in a narrow hole, where the pressure and temperature are high and caustic fields are present. Petroleum exists in the microscopic pores of sedimentary rocks. Seismic reflection surveys are the most important technique for locating potential reserviors of petroleum.
