Wannier functions and the calculation of localized modes in one-dimensional photonic crystals

摘要
The localized modes of a layered photonic crystal with a substitutional defect are calculated by expanding the magnetic field over a truncated set of Wannier functions. Good agreement is found with the results obtained by the transfer-matrix technique. It is shown that frequencies converge very fast (slowly) as the number of unit cells (photonic bands) in the truncated set is increased. (C) 2018 Optical Society of America
