Cerebral infarction due to traumatic internal carotid artery dissection

摘要
The authors report a case of a 39-year-old man who had a skiing accident. The following day he continued to ski, but later, while driving home, he lost consciousness and caused an accident. On hospital admission, he had a left hemiparesis. Traumatic dissection of the internal carotid artery with subsequent infarction in the right middle cerebral artery was diagnosed. Treatment with heparin resulted in the almost complete resolution of neurologic deficits.
