摘要
Geotechnical and geoenvironmental aspects of dredgings are discussed in relation to operations and maintenance of waterways and also re-use of dredgings for infrastructure works. Various operations, deposition, selection and treatment of dredgings are discussed. The potential for re-use as secondary fill materials, saving natural resources, is examined in the light of geotechnical, chemical and leachability test data. Effects on the ground and surface water environments are shown to be manageable. Some recent studies into lime treatment of dredgings for highway and canal applications are described.
