Trial databases may provide a reference for resources subscription, and compensate for the lack of resources construction. The management of trial databases has become an important job for libraries. The paper will analyze the methods of making trial databases more efficient. 10 academic libraries' trial databases, including information updating, feedback and trial date, are investigated to find out the shortage of the management. Then case study is adopted. Practices and experiences in trial databases of the library of HUST are discussed in detail. They register essential information, record the consulting problems and compile trial report for every trial database. Lastly, some advices like applying for an extension, carrying out multi-channel promotions, building navigations, establishing feedback mechanism and integrating into discovery systems, are given.
