摘要
The kinetics of oxidation of crotyl alcohol by tetraethylammonium chlorochromate (TEACC) has been investigated in acetic acid-water mixtures (50% v/v) medium. The reaction exhibits first order kinetics, each in [TEACC] and [crotyl alcohol]. The reaction is catalysed by hydrogen ions and a medium of low dielectric constant favours the oxidation process. Ionic strength variation has no significant effect on the reaction rate. The reaction does not induce polymerisation of acrylonitrile. Activation and thermodynamic parameters have been computed and a suitable mechanism consistent with kinetic data has been proposed.
