摘要
Field experiment was conducted to study the effect of plant growth retardants and nipping on various morphophysiological characters and yield components in cowpea. The plant height, number of branches, stem dry weight, pod dry weight and total dry weight increased upto harvest, while the number of leaves and leaf dry weight increased upto 60 days after sowing and declined thereafter. Seed weight per plant, number of pods per plant, seeds per pod, 100 seed weight and pod length increased significantly due to growth retardants and nipping. Among them mepiquat chloride (1000 ppm) was found to be very effective in increasing the seed yield followed by nipping of tendrils at one week after tendril formation and mepiquat chloride (500 ppm)
