The species groups of the genus Phaonia, together with the included species from China, are listed. Thirty-nine species groups and 350 species are recorded from China. Four new species are described, viz., P. klinostoichas, sp. nov., P. hainanensis, sp. nov., P. jiulongensis, sp. nov. and P. cineripollinosa, sp. nov. Phaonia blaesomera is assigned to Lophosceles.
