In the actual photovoltaic (PV) system, due to the complex and changing environment, the P-V characteristic curves of photovoltaic cells tend to show multiple peak states. At this time, traditional MPPT algorithm in the tracking accuracy and speed cannot be met, and it tends to stay at the local maximum power point. In order to solve this problem of tracking the maximum power point of MPPT under partial shading conditions in PV system, and to enhance the tracking precision and speed of the maximum power tracking, this paper presents a MPPT control method based on improved harmony search (IHS) algorithm. A photovoltaic MPPT model to simulate partial shadow is built in Matlab/Simlink for simulation analysis, and the parameters of the traditional harmony search (HS) algorithm are improved. The simulation results verify that the algorithm presented in this paper can rapidly and precisely track the global maximum power point under partial shading conditions, reduce power oscillation and energy loss, which is able to enhance the PV generation efficiency.
