摘要：
Management of depression in the outpatient primary care setting must be approached systematically. More detection and treatment of major depression should occur in this setting. The profile of a patient's clinical presentation guides treatment decisions. When appropriate pharmacology and psychotherapy skills and knowledge are applied, optimal management of depression can be achieved effectively and efficiently.
