Nephtyidae (Annelida: Polychaeta) from the Yellow Sea

Nine species of nephtyid polychaetes were collected and examined from the Yellow Sea. Specimens were sampled using a grab in the subtidal zone of the Yellow Sea and hand corer in the intertidal zone of the eastern part of the Yellow Sea. Eight of the 11 known species in Korean waters were represented in the collections. A new species and three new records of nephtyid polychaetes from the Yellow Sea are described. This new polychaete Nephtys chemulpoensis n. sp. occurs in the intertidal mud and sand flats of Inchon, Korea. Three other species, Aglaophamus cf. gippslandicus Rainer and Hutchings, 1977, Nephtys californiensis Hartman, 1938 and N. neopolybranchia Imajima and Takeda, 1987 are new to the Korean polychaete fauna.
