This journal issue is the result of a series of sessions that were organised at the American Psychological Association (APA) annual convention in Honolulu in 2004. The nine sessions were sponsored by the APA at which Patricia Arredondo, Leo Marai, Christina Montiel and Eugene Wiggins spoke; by the Society for the Study of Peace, Conflict and Violence (Division 48 of the APA) at which Jasook Koo, Juan Rapadas and Debora Upegui spoke; by the Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues (Division 45 of the APA) at which Adreanne Ormond spoke; and the Committee of the International Relations in Psychology at which Kamana'opono Crabbe spoke. In addition, the discussants and speakers spoke at sessions in the hospitality suites of Psychologists for Social Responsibility, of the Society for the Psychology of Women (Division 35 of the APA) and of Division 48.
