This paper proposes energy management in smart home with solar renewable energy using smart plug and inverter. Through the smart plug, information on all loads in the home is monitored and collected to an energy management center. Load profiles are managed, and the loads are classified dynamically based on the profiles in the center. When a power failure occurs, the multimode solar inverter supplies power independently from the utility grid through mode change. If the generated energy is insufficient, the energy supply is maintained by curtailing some loads based on the priority. Through the simulations using PSIM, the energy management by cooperation based on communication of the smart plugs and inverter has been verified.
