摘要
A new experiment searching for mu-e conversion in nuclear field by fully utilizing a high-power pulsed proton beam available at J-PARC Material and Life Science Facility is described. The muonic atom formation rate in a silicon-carbide primary-proton target will be 10(10)/s for 1 MW operation of a J-PARC RCS booster. With this high formation rate of the muonic atoms, it is possible to perform a competitive search for mu-e conversion in nuclear field at 10(-14) level of the branching ratio, nearly two orders of magnitudes below current limits. A new secondary beam line will be dedicated to extract 105-MeV/c electrons from the primary-proton target.
