摘要
The synthesis of Nd-doped CaF2 nanocrystals using a direct precipitation method was reported. X-ray powder diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analysis showed that the products were single phased with an average particles size around 18 nm. The transparent ceramic was fabricated by hot pressing (HP) the powders at a temperature of 900 degrees C under a pressure of 30 MPa. The micrograph of the Nd:CaF2 transparent ceramic exhibited a pore-free structure and the average grain size was about 0.5 mu m. For a 2 mm thickness sample, the highest transmittance of the sample reached 90% in the wavelength from 250 nm to 1400 nm, which made it hopeful to be a kind of laser media for miniaturization of laser devices.
