Although there are many risk maps of natural disasters, in terms of essence they can be classified into three types: extreme-value-risk map, probability-risk map and soft-risk map. There are three approaches to update them: adding new observations into the original data, over making a new map and update a map with new observations. Main one of their common features is weighted processing of new observations and original data. Hereby, in this paper, we suggest the principle of updating risk zoning maps of natural disasters: inversing the present map to obtain information which is in the same space where the updating information is in, and weightedly processing them to produce a new map. This principle is of great scientific significance for exploring practical models to update risk maps and studying the cases.
