Financial instrument bus architecture for data warehousing

The creation of large data warehousing systems using appropriate data mining tools is one of the most important software engineering issues of modern times. This becomes even more crucial when dealing with data warehousing regarding financial instruments. In this paper, we will discuss major problems caused by isolation of hierarchy representations of financial instruments. These problems are discussed in detail and suggestions to solve them are proposed. We will show that financial instruments call be better stored in a financial instrument bus architecture using financial instrument characteristic matrix indicators and not using a hierarchy tree.
