This review discloses relevant applications of the chemistry of 1-azaallylic anions leading to basic heterocycled systems such as aziridines, azetidines, pyrrolidines, pyrroles, piperdines, pyridines, oxiranes, oxolanes, ⋯ and higher functionalized rings, currently used in pharmaceutical chemistry and agrochemistry. First, structural information for 1-azaallylic preferences is given, followed by an overview of the different methods available for the synthesis of heterocycles of different ring sizes.
