Huge optical rotatory power of uniaxially oriented film of poly-L-lactic acid

摘要
Using a uniaxially drawn poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) sample, an attempt was made to perform direct measurement of a large amount of rotary power by introducing laser light in the fiber axis direction. The thickness d(μm) of the PLLA films was measured using a touch-type thickness meter. The observations lead to the conclusion that the rotary power of the PLLA is 7.2°/μm.
