Composition design of iron-base shape memory alloys

摘要
The composition design method to obtain the best shape memory effect (SME) is demonstrated. It is shown that since an iron-base shape memory alloy with a good SME should be a single γ phase at ambient temperature with a low stacking fault energy of (Esf), the alloy should be located in the γ phase zone near triple point of γ. γ + ε and γ + α in the Schaeffer phase diagram. This is confirmed by measuring the SME of iron-base alloys obtained by melting metals of Fe, Mn, Si, Cr and Ni.
