Superficial, densification of P/M parts using ultrasonic shot-peening

摘要
Ultrasonic shot-peening was developed to densify P/M porous parts. Experiments were performed on a sintered Distaloy AE steel with an initial porosity ranging from 9 to 21v/o. Quantitative image analysis was developed to characterize the evolution of porosity after densification. The influence of process parameters and initial porosity on the porosity profiles was shown. The results are compared with the evolution of the surface roughness and microhardness profiles. Finally, the main parameters were isolated.
