摘要：

Current teleconsultation systems are usually based on specialized networks and equipments which are usually very costly. This somehow restricts their uses and popularity. The objective of this paper is to present a simple and economically affordable alternative to the current systems that can be used for both experts' stand-alone research and for real-time collaborative teleconsultation among experts with patient participation. It consists of a patient information database, a real-time collaborating system based on teleconferencing and chatting-room functions. It is a low-cost desktop system that is completely based on Java technologies such as Java Media Framework (JMF), Web Start, J2EE features and so on.
