Effect of Mn doping on physical properties of Y-type hexagonal ferrite

摘要
The magnetic and electric properties of Mn doped Y-type hexagonal ferrite were investigated. The samples with composition of Ba2Zn0.8Co0.8Cu0.4Fe12-xMnxO22 were prepared by solid-state reaction method. The results show that Mn doping distributes in the grains uniformly, and does not affect the phase formation and microstructure of Y-type hexagonal ferrite. Mn substitution does not damage the magnetic properties. However, Mn substitution can restrain the reduction of DC resistivity of the samples sintered at high temperatures. Minor Mn addition (x <= 0.4) inhibits the valence alternation of Fe3+ and reduces the amount of charge carrier, so that dielectric permittivity decreased. When Mn is added more (0.6 <= x <= 0.8), the dielectric permittivity increases because of the valence alternation of Mn3+. (c) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
