A novel chitosan incorporating carbon nanotubes coated electrode was constructed and applied to the differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) anodic stripping voltammetric characteristic's of iodine ion. The modified electrodes, exhibiting both of unique properties of CNT and chitosan, has excellent electrocatalytic effect of I-. The sensitive detection of iodine ion has been further improved. A linear calibration curve was obtained for 1x10(-6) mol/L to 1x10(-3) mol/L in 0.1 mol/L KH2PO4 buffer (pH = 4.0) with correlation coefficient of 0.998 and detection limit of 0.2 mu mol/L. The practical analytical application was illustrated by a measurement of iodine ion in salt.
