Al/TiB2 IN SITU COMPOSITE MATERIAL MICROSTRUCTRE INFLUENCE ON HARDNESS

摘要
This paper aims to show the increase in hardness for composites obtained in situ, by in melt chemical reaction in various conditions. I obtained a three series of composite materials and measured the HB hardness for every composite and I observed that an obvious increase in hardness was obtained for the Al/TiB2 composite realized by in melt chemical reaction with stirring. The microstructure in this case was highly improved and this results in hardness increasing. I underlined that fact that the fully reacted composite has also the best hardness value.
