The introduction of magnetic elements into electronic devices, often referred to as magnetoelectronics, is beginning to be seen in both commercial products as well as purely research devices. In this article a brief survey is presented of these applications, with an identification of the operative physical properties involved in their operation. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
