摘要
Iron substituted indium oxide (In1-x Fe (x) )(2)O-3 thin films at x = 0.00, 0.03, 0.05 and 0.07 were coated onto Corning 7059 glass substrates using the electron beam evaporation technique followed by annealing at different temperatures. The prepared thin films were subjected to different characterization techniques to study their structural, optical and magnetic properties. The structural properties of the thin films were studied using x-ray diffractometry (XRD). From the XRD results it was found that the films were crystallized in cubic structure, and no change in crystal structure was observed with annealing temperature. No secondary phases related to iron were observed from the XRD profiles. The chemical composition and surface morphology of the films were examined by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) attached with energy dispersive analysis of x-ray (EDAX). The valence state of the elements were studied by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and found that the indium, iron and oxygen were in In+3, Fe+3 and O-2 states. From the data, the band gap of the (In1-x Fe (x) )(2)O-3 thin films were calculated and it increased with increase of annealing temperature. The magnetic properties of the films were studied at room temperature by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The films exhibited ferromagnetism at room temperature.
