The biocatalytic oxidation of various organic sulfides with whole cells of the commercially available topsoil bacterium Pseudomonas frederiksbergensis DSM 13022 affords the corresponding (S)-sulfoxides in high (up to >99% ee) enantiomeric excess. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
