Revisiting the collision-induced light scattering spectrum of gaseous CH4

摘要
The profile of the two-body collision-induced light scattering spectrum of CH4 at temperatures from 295 K to 130 K is calculated through a classical trajectory simulation of the collision. Free translational, bound state, and single and double induced rotational contributions are included. The magnitudes of the dipole-quadrupole and dipole-octopole polarizabilities are found to be 0.75 Angstrom(4) and 2.7 Angstrom(5), respectively, through comparison with experiment.
