摘要
An investigation was undertaken to clarify the effect of melt superheat on the columnar-to-equiaxed transition (CET) in unidirectionally solidified S32205 duplex stainless steel (DSS) against a water-cooled chill. The results showed that the lower melt superheat was favorable to enlarge equiaxed grain zone which increased from 18% to 49% when the melt superheat decreased from 20 degrees C to 60 degrees C. Meanwhile grain reduced striking from 10mm to 6mm. Furthemore, the austenite content decreased with increasing melt cooling intensity. The equiaxed grains ratio is increased while the equiaxed grain size is decreased with the increasing of the superheat, which is contrary to general cognitive. We analyzed the causes and found solutions. On the other hand, obvious morphological discrepancy can be observed between intragranular and boundary of austenite. Conifer needle-like austenite presented in the interior of ferrite grains and close to ferrite grain boundaries, widmanstatten plate-like austenite formed.
