摘要
The article examines the representation of colonialism in German, French, and English history textbooks. Considering textbooks as media of knowledge transfer and cultural understanding, it explores their translational potential. It asks how they translate the colonial experience and whether they develop a transnational perspective on European colonialism or whether they perceive the colonial heritage within a strictly national framework. Although postcolonial studies have altered the rendering of colonialism, textbooks still focus on national master narratives and offer little space for the translation and appropriation of shared history in diverse migrant societies.
