The cutting forces are investigated when high speed drilling on multi-directional CFRP The relationships between cutting parameters and thrust force/torque are established. While the spindle speed n (rpm), feed speed v(f)(mm/min) and feed rate f (mm/rev) have significant influences on the cutting forces, the surface speed v (m/min) of the drill has little effect on the thrust and torque. The ratio v/v(f) has a steady influence on the cutting forces at variours v and v(f) combinations. The ratio can therefore be used in production to determine optimum drilling parameters.
