Lower bounds for the spread of a Hermitian matrix

摘要：
Some simple lower bounds for the spread of a Hermitian matrix are derived. These bounds are explicit functions of the entries of the matrix, one of which is sharper than a recent result due to E. R. Barnes and A. J. Hoffman. Comparisons are made with several known results. (C) Elsevier Science Inc., 1997.
