A Feature-based Parametric Pattern-Making Model

An interactive apparel CAD is widely utilized in mass production, but may not meet the requirements of mass customization. According to the methodology of feature-based modeling in the mechanical parametric design field, a feature-based parametric pattern-making model is proposed in order to provide flexible space to designers. In this paper, the evolution of parametric pattern-making technology is outlined. The model is illustrated with an example of the front panel of woman's jacket. First of all, a pattern-making process is described, secondly parameter constraints between body measurements are discussed, thirdly the feature-based geometric constraints is constructed to represent the topology of a complex pattern and form a complete feature-based pattern model.
