The growth of Nd3+:GdxY1-xAl3(BO3)4 crystals

Large crystals of Nd3+ : Gd0.2Y0.75Al3(BO3)(4) with a size of up to 32mm have been grown from a 90 wt% K2Mo3O10 : 10 wt% B2O3 flux. The liquids temperature curve for this growth system was determined by repeated seeding. From the grown crystal boule, a high-quality laser bulk crystal with dimensions of 4 mm x 5 mm x 6 mm was cut out, and the absorption spectrum was measured. A laser output at 0.532 mu m was realized when this crystal was pumped by a laser diode. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
