Wideband Terahertz Reflectarray Antenna with Mechanical Scanning Beams

摘要
This work is focused on solving significant problems of conventional reflectarrays, i.e., beam dispersion and narrow bandwidth. In this paper, a multi-frequency phase matching method is used for wideband design with a fixed beam direction. A 32 x 50 offset-fed wideband terahertz reflectarray antenna, working in 0.225 similar to 0.325THz, based on novel single-layer elements with a large and linear phase response, is designed. Simulated results show the beam of the proposed reflectarray deflects to a fixed direction over a large frequency band when the horn keeps unmoved and a gain of 30.76 similar to 33.98dBi are achieved. Furthermore, by mechanically moving the horn, the beam of the reflectarray can be scanned from -20 degrees to 15 degrees.
