Highly Birefringent Squeezed Hexagonal Photonic Crystal Fiber with Low Nonlinear Coefficient and Low Confinement Loss

摘要
A simple type of squeezed hexagonal photonic crystal fiber (SHPCF) with two missing air holes in the first ring is proposed. To analyze the properties of this fiber, finite element method with perfectly matched layer boundary is used. The numerical result shows that it is possible to obtain high birefringence of 1.45x10(-2) with low nonlinear coefficient of 16.54 W(-1)km(-1) at 1.55 mu m wavelength. In addition to this, a low confinement loss is also obtained. This proposed SHPCF would be a promising candidate for high bit-rate transmission with large transmission capacity, fiber filters and fiber sensing applications.
