摘要
The transesterified corn oil, as a biofuel over Direct Injection (DI) single-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engine, has been studied in this research. The Compression Ratio (CR) on performance parameters when fuelled with 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% blends with diesel (on volume basis) is investigated and compared with that of Diesel (B0). Experiments were conducted at a constant speed with maximum load and a compression ratio of 17:1, 18:1 and 19:1. The conclusion revealed that specific fuel consumption is lower and brake thermal efficiency is higher for blend B60 at compression ratio 19:1 when compared to B0. The volatile emissions dropped with CR 17:1 and slightly increased for higher CR of Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide and Hydro Carbon, besides the decrement of Oxides of Nitrogen. B60 as a fuel at compression ratio 19:1 and maximum load condition is found to show better results than B0 as a fuel.
