摘要
This paper gives an overview of the remote field eddy current (RFEC) effect and its application to the nondestructive inspection of ferromagnetic tubing. In practice, the method has largely been limited to the inside inspection of down-well casing and pipeline, where the RFEC probe's ability to detect both ID and OD corrosion is an advantage. Finite element modeling studies have not only served to illustrate the complexities of the underlying physics of the method but have also extended RFEC testing to include the inspection of flat plate and possible detection of underwater targets, such as mines. In addition, the finite element modeling has also predicted the existence of the RFEC effect in moving de probes, such as gas pipeline magnetic flux leakage tools.
