Electron acceleration by fast waves

Using the Fokker-Planck and quasilinear equations, a study of the quantitative modification of the electron flux, at upsilon(parallel to) --> + infinity due to a packet of fast waves (FW) is presented. It is shown that the FW cannot by itself produce runaway-type electron flux although it carries its own field-aligned electric field. However, a broad spectrum of FW can enhance the classical production rate if it propagates in the presence of a background DC electric field.
