摘要
In this paper, we discuss Merleau-Ponty's positioning in respect to physicalism, understood as the thesis according to which everything that exists in the spatiotemporal world is physical. We aim to show that he does not deny physicalism, as established here, but does deny other theses that make up a more general naturalistic perspective (of which physicalism is part), which we shall call the Naturalistic View of the World. In order to reach our aim, we consider Merleau-Ponty's notion of reversibility, and, from that basis, we show how the human body can be simultaneously considered as an object bound by physical laws and as the subject of intentional actions..
