In a society characterized by markets globalization and competition, the companies from the automotive industry are more concerned to reach a level of excellence regarding the quality of their products delivered to the final consumer, in terms of profitability. The paper emphasizes the results of a comparative study conducted during the doctoral research concerning the accomplishment degree of the Quality indicators used currently by the companies from the automotive industry for the performance evaluation, in relation with the demands of the Business Excellence Models. According to the study, the implementation of such models of quality management, internationally recognized, facilitates the evaluation process and performance improvement, so that companies, which adopt them, can achieve the desired level of excellence in relation with customers, suppliers and society as a whole.
