A checklist for the evaluation of low vision in non collaborative subjects

The authors present a visual function assessment checklist to evaluate visual impairment in non-collaborative children or in subjects with associated neurological damages. The checklist synthetizes and quantifies several behavioural indicators, normally obtained during a clinical examination. Each test of the checklist recives a score (1 if succesfull; 0 if failed), The final score, or visual quotient, is obtained by dividing the sc ore by the number of rests performed. Visual quotient is nor an evaluation of visual acuity, but may be matched with other procedures (such as preferential looking) to better characterize the entire spectrum of low vision in a Iron-collaborative subject.
