摘要
A large number of people around the world suffer from acute and chronic wounds, their treatment becoming a realy health issue. The pathophysiology of different wounds drew increased interest for wound dressing progress, for assuring not only an favorable moisture environment but also physical protection of the wound. As a result, sustained and controlled delivery of wound healing bioactive agents was reported as highly beneficial for patients wounds. The present article reviews the literature devoted to the development of some matrices supports, such as hydrogels, as active wound dressings for delivery of drugs and growth factors. These systems represent an opportunity to develop new treatments in the therapies of acute and chronic wounds, for reducing infections and inflamatory reactions and for stimulating tissue regeneration. Thus, various properties of hydrogels in wound healing and drug delivery have been described and various bioactive agents released from hydrogels matrices (drugs, proteins or growth factors) at the site of the wound, in order to stimulate healing and skin regeneration of the tissue, were reported.
