摘要
This study is about the investigation of the mechanical properties of open-cell, metal foam structures. The finite element simulations is used for analysis the foam behaviour. The foam structure is modelled using two regular cells. The Kelvin and the Weaire-Phelan cell mathematical model. A comparative study is discussed between these two models. The struts are modelled as a 3D finite element beam. The validation of this model when compared to the experimental results leads to a parametric analysis that shows the evolution of foam Young modulus according to some geometrical parameters of the cellular network structure, such as shape and dimensions of strands cross section, the strands inertia and their alignment and the structural network irregularities.
