摘要
Two different semiconductor amplifiers are tested and studied. In section 2, a static characterization in terms of gain is performed, illustrating the dependence with the electric and optical input powers. How modulation and detection are carried out by semiconductor amplifiers is explained in section 3, as well the optimal biased level is discussed. Finally, in section 4 several designs, where semiconductor optical amplifiers are used as a transceiver at the Optical Network Unit, are proposed.
