摘要
This paper presents the simulation results of damping improvement of a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based offshore wind farm (OWF) connected to a multi-machine power system using a static VAR compensator (SVC). The operating performance of the studied OWF is simulated by an equivalent wind DFIG driven by an equivalent wind turbine (WT) through an equivalent gearbox. A damping controller of the SVC is designed by using modal control theory to contribute adequate damping to the dominant modes of the studied multi-machine power system under the selected operating conditions. A time-domain scheme based on a nonlinear system model subject to disturbance conditions is utilized to examine the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. It can be concluded from the simulation results that the proposed SVC joined with the designed damping controller is capable of offering adequate damping to the studied multi-machine power system subject to various disturbance conditions.
